Moscow, Russia – 1 June, 2017 – Cherkizovo Group (LSE: CHE; MOEX: GCHE), the largest vertically integrated meat and feed producer in Russia, will take part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) for the second time.
This year, the forum’s programme is united around the theme: “In search of a new balance in the global economy”. Cherkizovo Group will take part in sessions covering the development of Russia’s agricultural sector, as well as carry out a series of meetings with federal and regional leaders. For the Group, it is important that the development of the agricultural sector receives appropriate attention. This will allow for a constructive dialog with officials and business leaders as well as the exchange of opinion and experience to work together determine the future of the sector.
As part of the SPIEF business programme, Cherkizovo Group will sign an investment agreement with Moscow region for the construction of a fully automated meat processing plant in the town of Kashira. Such a facility for the production of smoked sausage with a capacity of 80 tonnes of finished product per day does not exist in Russia or even Europe. High technology equipment will be installed here capable of guaranteeing the quality and biosafety of products and the facility will use the latest resource-conserving technology. Investments in the project will exceed RUB 6 billion.
Also on the programme is the awarding to Cherkizovo Group of a Mark of Quality for products that exceed the requirements of Inter-Government Standards (GOST) used in Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union. The autonomous, non-commercial organisation Russian Quality System (Roskachestvo) gives out the award. Broiler chickens under the Kurinoe Tsarstvo brand (Lisko Broiler plant) have received a certificate of recognition. This award does not come as a surprise, as Cherkizovo Group as a whole has made product quality a fundamental priority. It receives special attention at all stages of production, from “field to plate”. This is aided by the Group’s vertically integrated structure and it independently cultivates wheat, produces feed, raises the birds and piglets and makes its own meat products. Each facility has its own quality department and utilises HACCP and Traceability System, as well as running programmes for laboratory investigation and regularly carrying out independent audits. Feed production at the Group plants is fully automated and all operations are carried out in a closed loop. Meat products are made on high technology and high-speed lines. The dosing of medicines is controlled automatically. The finished products are immediately transported to a refrigerated chamber for temporary storage before delivery to clients.
In addition, Cherkizovo Group will for the first time join the SPIEF’s sporting events. The Group is an official partner of the White Nights – Roskongress Fund Cup tennis tournament.
