The United Chari Games 2014 charity race was held in Sokolniki Park with the support of “Cherkizovo” Group and the United Way foundation. All money raised during the event will be used to buy vouchers for a summer camp for children from low-income and disadvantaged families who have suffered from burns, and to improve the quality of life of seniors in Russian regions.
The United Chari Games 2014 are the fourth of these events to be held in a row. The event included two races of 2.5 and 5 kilometres. Teams of employees from leading Russian and international companies were among the runners. The races welcomed everyone committed to the concept of social responsibility and who would like to help the most vulnerable people in our city.
According to the organizers, the sports day in Sokolniki was a unique opportunity for companies doing business in Russia and their employees to learn more about charitable causes and contribute to promoting ideas such as responsibility, involvement, and assistance to those in need.
Alexander Kostikov, Cherkizovo's Head of Communications and Investor Relations, said that the company takes an active social position and annually provides charitable assistance and sponsorship for needy people wherever possible. “We are delighted that this great sports event was held. Many of our partners, friends, and colleagues took part in the race. This means they share our values, support initiatives, and witness the highlights in the company's life together with us,” he noted.
