Moscow, Russia – September 6 – Cherkizovo Group, Russia’s largest meat producer, ran a number of campaigns to support children as part of the International Day of Charity. Across several geographies, Cherkizovo financed repairs and improvements at educational facilities, and its Moscow office staged a fair of handicrafts made by children with special needs.

At the start of the academic year, the Group held charity events in five Russian regions. In the Lipetsk Region, we helped with minor repairs at educational buildings in the Lev-Tolstovsky District, while also allocating funds to refurbish the Gorshechensky kids' art school in the Kursk Region. The Belgorod Region authorities used our financial aid to complete a preschool playground in the Rovensky District. In the Orel and Penza regions, we sponsored renovations in two secondary schools and revamping of sports grounds (village of Sosnovka), respectively.

Our financial aid to educational institutions was timed to coincide with the International Day of Charity celebrated annually on September 5 to commemorate the passing away of Mother Teresa of Calcutta who received the Nobel Peace Prize for her humanitarian work with the destitute. The UN General Assembly established the day in 2012 to promote local, national, regional and international charity across the globe.

On September 5, our headquarters together with Vremya Peremen, a non-governmental organization supporting children with Down's syndrome, hosted another charitable event – a fair for Cherkizovo employees. On sale were handicrafts, such as shopping bags, pillows, custom design notebooks, and many more things made by kids. Our employees could also market their own hand-made staff. All proceeds went to Vremya Peremen.

“This year was the first time when Cherkizovo Group took part in the International Day of Charity. I am confident we will turn it into a good tradition going forward. As our business is growing, we are stepping up our social efforts. We are very proud to see strong support of our charity activities from Cherkizovo staff who find time and resources to do good deeds,” said Anastasia Mikhailova, Head of Communications at Cherkizovo Group.
