Industrial Meat Supply Index (IMS) moved up 2% in Jan - Mar 2019 (all changes in percent are Y-O-Y in this publication). The index increased by 3% in March driven mostly by positive pork supply dynamics.
IMS Index of poultry Jan - Mar 2019 decreased by 2%. In March the index increased by 1%. In our view (there is no official statistics for different species), turkey production fell considerably and broiler production dynamics was slightly positive.
IMS Index of pork in Jan - Mar 2019 increased by 7%. The dynamics in March was similar – up 6%, driven mostly by increase of domestic production and partial return of Brazilian import. However, we do not expect significant shipments from Brazil to Russia this year as China started to absorb more meat as a result of African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreaks.
IMS Index of beef in Jan - Mar 2019 increased by 2% due to rise in both import and domestic production. In March IMS beef Index moved up 3%.
