Cherkizovo begins shipping to UAE

February 25, 2020

Moscow, Russia – February 25 – Cherkizovo Group, Russia’s largest meat producer, announces the launch of poultry shipments to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Looking ahead, we expect to establish regular poultry supplies to other Gulf countries, a topic discussed with potential partners at the Gulfood 2020 trade exhibition in Dubai.

In February, Cherkizovo began supplying poultry to the UAE from the Vasilyevskaya poultry farm (Penza Region, Russia). The first shipment of 54 tonnes of frozen chicken breast fillets has already left the port of Novorossiysk for Dubai. The shipment is intended for customers working in the HoReCa industry.

Vasilyevskaya poultry farm is one of Cherkizovo Group's key export-oriented facilities located in the Penza Region. Before the shipment was sent to the UAE, a lot of effort was put in to ensure all the products met halal criteria, which is mandatory for all suppliers to Middle Eastern markets. The facility is fully certified to use vegetable feed in poultry rearing and to employ manual slaughtering.

Increasing exports is one of Cherkizovo Group's top priorities for 2020. We believe the first shipment to the UAE lets us establish an initial foothold in the region. Going forward, Cherkizovo Group will be looking to regularly supply poultry to retailers and HoReCa customers not only in the UAE, but also in other Gulf states.

Cherkizovo’s representatives discussed potential contracts with trading partners from the Middle East last week at the Gulfood 2020 exhibition which is held annually in Dubai and gathers more than 100,000 visitors from around the globe. Cherkizovo's stand offered all kinds of information about its products for those interested.

“The recent positive development of relations between Russia, the UAE and Saudi Arabia may contribute to the growth of trade between our countries, including in the consumer sector. We believe that our participation in Gulfood this year will give new impetus and allow our poultry products, compliant with the national and religious requirements of the Middle East, to tap into new markets," said Andrei Terekhin, Head of Exports at Trading Company Cherkizovo.
