Moscow, Russia – 15 April 2019 – Cherkizovo Group strengthened its feed production performance and scored first for the fourth time with the output of 1.83 million tonnes.
The Company boosted its output by 142,000 tonnes y-o-y and widened the gap with its main competitor Miratorg to 290,000 tonnes (compared to 218,000 tonnes in 2017), despite Miratorg’s production growth by 70,000 tonnes, up to 1.53 million tonnes. This year, Cherkizovo plans to produce almost 2.2 million tonnes of feed.
During the Russian Meat & Feed Industry 2019, Agroinvestor Magazine presented its fourth annual rating of Russia's leading feed producers for the year 2018. The previous ratings covered 20 companies, however this time, the list was extended to include 25 companies. The market majors produced a total of 14.8 million tonnes of feed, or 51% of the national output.
Last year, Russia produced 28.9 million tonnes of feed, up by 5% compared to 2017. As for the rest of participants, the average growth rate remained flat – in 2017, the feed industry gained 7% reflecting faster growth of the poultry segment (+6.9%), the key consumer of feeds (54% of the total volume). Last year, the poultry segment showed a 0.7% uptick, while the pig farming gained 5.5%.
