Children’s Day (1st June)
Traditionally, employees of Cherkizovo Group take an active part in charitable initiatives associated with the Children’s Day, ranging from hosting special celebrations in local orphanages to buying clothes for children. In Bryansk, the Group’s employees joined forces with student volunteers to stage a morning performance for the residents of the local orphanage. The children were presented with new clothes, shoes and summer camp games. In addition, the institution’s canteen received new kitchenware. In Penza, a friendly football match was played between the Spassky orphanage and the Vasilyevskaya poultry farm. The kids interested in creative arts were also given a master class on gingerbread painting. It was followed by a picnic party where children were treated with kebabs and other delicious dishes. On top of that, the Group’s employees bought a large television set and other household appliances for the orphanage. The donations raised by the employees were used to buy individual presents for the children.
Knowledge Day (1st September)
Cherkizovo Group pays special attention to children’s education. On Knowledge Day, orphanages are usually presented with school supplies, textbooks, school uniforms and shoes. In Bryansk, boys and girls of two social orphanages received new textbooks, workbooks, school uniforms and handicraft kits from the employees of Cherkizovo Group. In Penza, our employees purchased school uniforms and shoes for the kids. Children were also given office supplies. Orphanages in the Lipetsk and Moscow regions received home appliances, including washing machines, dryers and irons.
Victory Day (9th May)
On Victory Day, Cherkizovo employees traditionally pay tribute to the World War II veterans. Each year, they participate in special celebrations and wreath laying, while also congratulating veterans and giving them presents. In the Moscow region, the Group’s employees laid a wreath in the village of Chastsy and distributed food baskets with Cherkizovo branded products to the veterans. In Penza, the employees personally presented veterans with food baskets. Traditionally, we extended congratulations to our former employees who are World War II veterans.
Orphanages also get support from Cherkizovo Group for the New Year holiday. On New Year’s Day, employees of the Group dressed as Father Frost and Snow Maiden to join a morning performance in a Bryansk orphanage and give sweet gifts to children. The orphanage also received aid in the form of new bathroom fixtures, household appliances and children’s clothes. In Penza, employees of the Group opted for buying personal gifts for children of the local orphanage in response to their letters to Father Frost instead of fundraising. Together with their families and colleagues, they purchased gifts and wrote letters with personal greetings for the children. In Lipetsk, the orphans were given personal hygiene sets and letters from Father Frost written by the Group’s employees. In the Voronezh region, New Year gift sets were purchased for children and adolescents of the Liskinsky social orphanage. The Group also purchased new furniture for the orphanage.
In Penza, the Group funded the purchase and delivery of a greenhouse for the Spassky orphanage. The children were also presented with traditional sweet Easter sets. In Lipetsk, each child of the local orphanage was presented with an Easter egg-shaped Tula gingerbread, a cake and a box of chocolate Easter treats.
Support for the 8th International Platonov Arts Festival
Platonov Festival is a major annual cultural event held in Voronezh. The support provided to the Festival by Cherkizovo Group comes as no surprise, as the Voronezh region is home to some of the Company’s core assets. Over the past ten years, the Group’s investments in the region’s grain, feed, poultry and pork segments totalled over RUB 15 billion.
Kursk’s World of Childhood charity marathon
For ten years now, Kursk’s World of Childhood charity marathon has been helping the region’s children and families facing hardships by providing them with school and sports uniform, footwear, school supplies, etc. Young talents have an opportunity to win gift certificates to buy musical instruments, stage outfit and other sorts of art supplies.
Cherkizovo Group, a socially responsible business with operations in the Kursk region, views participation in this marathon as a tool to raise awareness about the importance of helping families in need in the run-up to the new school year. Donations from the Company were used to purchase school materials and textbooks, sports uniforms and other necessary supplies.
Cherkizovo Group helped renovate schools in the Voronezh region
In the run-up to the new school year, the Company provided charitable aid to several educational institutions from the Voronezh region. The donations were used to renovate windows in two schools of the Semiluksk district and repair school premises in Nizhnedevitsk.
Granting of funds to support teaching and study facilities, child healthcare and educational programmes has become a well-established tradition for Cherkizovo Group, with the Company allocating aid to educational organisations as part of its annual charitable programme to help them buy the required equipment and perform maintenance works.
Aid to a social rehabilitation centre for underage patients in Bryansk
In 2013, following the reorganisation of Bryansk’s three asylums the city established a rehabilitation centre for children from troubled families and kids facing hardships.
Kurinoe Tsarstvo (part of Cherkizovo Group) has been providing assistance to the centre since 2015, helping it build a colourful multi-purpose playground with a covered sand box and create flowerbeds on a barren land plot in the courtyard. On holidays, the kids receive gifts, including office supplies, a colour printer and a video game console. In addition to preparing New Year surprises and treats for children, the company also regularly distributes its branded products among them.
Support for the Liskinsky social orphanage
Since 2014, Lisko Broiler (part of Cherkizovo Group) has been lending a helping hand to the local social orphanage for children and teenagers.
Employees of the poultry farm do their best to reduce the stress the boys and girls are going through by providing a comfortable environment and making them feel at home. For example, the company created a playroom for children, giving them an opportunity to have a place of their own where they can completely forget about the adults. Employees of the poultry farm also help teenagers recover through labour therapy by engaging in gardening, organising voluntary clean-up events and assisting in the renovation of orphanage premises.
Support for the Spassky orphanage
Employees of the Vasilyevskaya poultry farm (branch of Cherkizovo Group) pay visits to the Spassky orphanage every two–three months. In 2014, the farm brought new furniture for the orphanage premises and presented a sound system with extra large on-stage loudspeakers. From then on, the company kept the orphanage under its patronage. For example, in 2018, it purchased new furniture and equipment for the institution.
Another time-honoured tradition is the distribution of the farm’s branded goods, including chicken, chicken quarters and a variety of ready-to-cook products.
Mosselprom assumes patronage of the Kireevsk boarding school for orphans
The ties between Mosselprom (part of Cherkizovo Group) and the boarding school get stronger every year. The students regularly receive gifts, including school backpacks, writing supplies, books and toys, and benefit from special events organised for them (for example, tree planting in the school garden and school proms). Thanks to the sponsorship, the educational institution also has an opportunity to upgrade its technical capabilities and enjoy a constant supply of products from the meat processing enterprise.
In 2018, on occasion of the Agricultural Worker Day, the Kireevsk boarding school received 80 kg of Petelinka-branded whole broilers and cutlets. Other presents included two printers and ten palms for the winter garden.
Cherkizovo Group supports Kursk’s boarding school No. 2
Cherkizovo Group has been closely involved with the boarding school for many years, providing assistance in the upgrade of the school’s technical capabilities. The Group’s efforts included refurbishment of the classrooms and canteen to facilitate their use by disabled children, procurement of equipment for adapted physical education, construction of roofed promenade area, and many others.
Each time Cherkizovo employees visit the school, they bring the Company’s meat products. After completing a clean-up of the school’s courtyard, the adults and kids come together around a fire to treat themselves to delicious grilled sausages and celebrate the joint efforts that brought joy and cheered everybody up.
